Electrolysis Used in Bayport

Botox has become a household word itself. For those of you living under a rock, Botox is an injectable drug that reduces wrinkles caused by facial muscle activity. It is a purified toxin from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and works temporarily paralyzes the facial muscles in the area where it is injected. Botox is the only drug of its kind for use in the U.S. since its approval for cosmetic use by the FDA in 2002.There are two new competing products, which are currently expected FDA approval, Reloxin and Purtox. Reloxin of Medicis, the manufacturers of Restylane, a popular soft tissue filler made hyaluronic acid. Reloxin used for many years in 23 other countries and is also known as Dysport. It is believed that the FDA approval in the U.S. will occur later this year (2009).
There is a scheduled announcement 25th April by the FDA and an approval or a delay in the approval is expected.Purtox, another competitor of Botox mentor (which was recently purchased by Johnson and Johnson) made. The active ingredient is botulinum toxin type A, similar to both Botox and Reloxin. FDA approval of Purtox is likely to occur after Reloxin. Some doctors in Europe, the experience with Reloxin report that there have a faster onset and "spread" or diffusion of the material. Reloxin has make a similar, but smaller molecular structure of this "spread" into the tissue.
If this is indeed the case, Reloxin may be better for large areas such as the forehead, but it could. A disadvantage in areas where the diffusion can cause problems such as around the eyes A benefit for the patient a greater diffusion may be less injection sites. There is some speculation that Reloxin may take slightly longer than Botox. Final tests are pending.
